Emerging Designers Sadé + Shaniya Releases The Looking Glass Capsule Collection with a 3D and AR Fashion AND AR FASHION SHOW
Emerging fashion and lifestyle brand, Sadé + Shaniya releases The Looking Glass, a new capsule collection celebrating women through introspection, self-reflection, and discovery. To showcase the new collection, the two young designers utilized the latest in 3D and AR technology meshed with real models to bring forth a unique pre-recorded presentation to their fans.
Founded in 2015, Sadé | Shaniya is a fashion & lifestyle brand by Sadé Lewis and Shaniya Charles, best friends since high school. They mesh their differing personalities and personal aesthetic to create an accessible approach to high fashion and ready to wear. They stay true to their brand and their personal values through their vulnerability in storytelling and friendship. Their deep devotion to clothing design only represents the beginning of a journey that leads to a much larger vision centered around creativity, innovation, womanhood, and culture. After receiving their AAS in Fashion Merchandising Management and BS in Production Management, the duo officially launched their brand in July 2017.
“Like many other brands, due to the pandemic, we had to change our plans to release our capsule collection. Inspired by the unique ways brands were presenting their latest collections despite all of the restrictions, as well as our love for the traditional runway style, we brainstormed and decided to incorporate both digital and physical elements to our show,” shared co-designer and co-founder, Sadé Lewis, “We taught ourselves how to craft the 3D and AR elements used throughout the show as well as worked with professional 3D and AR artists to further assist us in the process.”
Drawing inspiration from the “House of Mirrors” and the women surrounding them, the capsule is composed of textiles that would bounce off light and create movement in the body. “While the textiles we choose are not overtly reflective, we wanted the textiles to embody the qualities of each woman we envisioned: buoyant, soft but yet solid,” explains co-designer and co-founder, Shaniya Charles. “The luxe velvets, corduroys, hammered textured silks, flowing pleats, and moiré seen throughout very much reflects the qualities of the women we know and love dearly.”
Key pieces from the collection include fan-favorite and the perfect lowkey statement piece the Mora bag ($60), a pleated handbag available in a range of colors and fabrics from metallic silver to faux leather, the Asymmetrical Blazer ($250), and Curve Pant ($150) both sold separately to create the perfect dual-gender set.
The presentation is officially up online on IGTV, YouTube, and their website at sadeshaniya.com.
