secure the bag: do the healing work

To celebrate our lovely tribe of powerful and impactful folks who continue to create space and move the culture forward we’ve decided to launch Secure the Bag, a series here at Brainwash for the bossiest and the most influential.

Meet Parise
Founder and Creator of Do The Healing Work

Who are you? What do you do? Why do you do it?

My name is PariseNichelle aka Shango Didi aka Do The Healing Work aka Do the bloodddclat Healing Work. I am a clairaudient, clairsentient, clairvoyant medium. That’s just a fancy way of saying, “I see, hear and feel spirit and sh*t.” I am able to communicate messages to the loved ones of those that have transitioned back to the Spirit realm. I am also an Initiated priest of Shango, an Apetebi, and a business and life coach.

Talk us through the inception of Do The Healing Work?

Do The Healing Work began very loosely about 15 years ago. I was a young mother who had always been what we’ll call “different.” I knew I received messages. But my intent was never to share them and try to blend in. As I got older I did begin reading others but really just a select few. However word of mouth grew. About three years ago I fully embraced my purpose and news spread like wildfire. I began teaching classes as well. During my classes I would always say Do the Healing Work!! In 2016, a full business was born.

What services/teachings do you offer?

I offer personal ancestral readings, business reading, spiritual DNA reading ( which tell you where you primordial ancestry is from, what they did, their spiritual gifts, spiritual disruptions etc) . In addition to readings I offer unpacking sessions (kinda like therapy but it’s a communication with your highest self), business coaching and classes.

What is your life purpose?

My life purpose is to empower men and women to utilize every resources in all dimensions that is available to them to heal. We must stop passing trauma to the next generation like it’s an inheritance.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My typical day starts with prayer. I have a reciprocal relationship with my Ancestors so it may be as simple as changing the water on the shrine or cooking a full meal. Next is homeschooling. I have 3 children. 2 out of 3 are homeschooled. By mid afternoon , I begin loading class curriculum and by the evening I start taking readings.

What is the biggest misconception that folks have about the work you do?

People think it’s scary, mystical, or that I’m old hahaha. A reading feels like a conversation with your favorite Auntie. It’s a love fest but it’s honest, blunt and most times emotional.

As someone who uses a lot of energy in your work how do you refill your own cup?

Working with my own Ancestors, spirit guides, children , spiritual students, and Hubby help to refill me. My sister tribe, definitely. I also get a dance class in every now and then too.

What is something you’d like to share with black and brown millennials struggling with all sorts of traumas, mental health challenges, etc?

Every day we have a choice to be stagnant or better. Every decision we make feeds and deifies the trauma or helps to resolve it. There have been so many agendas to keep us away from our Ancestors, spirit guides and traditional spiritual practices. We must ask ourselves why because of the freedom and power that lies there.
