Latashá reminds us there is POWER in vulnerability on "Crush"
The immortal jellyfish never dies. She merely gets younger and younger until she starts life over once more. When faced with death she chooses life instead, opting to revert to her juvenile state for she knows that even when the world seems to be ending, nothing really ends. Time is all relative. To end is to begin once more.
“Can I have a crush on you? I know we’re lovers, but still. I wanna feel like the first time.”
We watch as LATASHÁ drizzles her honey-like vocals atop stripped down piano chords for her last single of the year, “Crush,” a pre-cursor to #ICYAMI— a compilation project to be released January 2019. We watch as she nestles herself in her fortress of love shared with her boo-thang as she reminds them that this love they share is filled with all sorts of magic. Honey magic. Honey so rich that it can heal all wounds and protect one from harm and danger.
Her only desire is to go back to the beginning— to the moment she felt so encapsulated by love that she wanted nothing more than to sit in it. Build a fortress around it. Run into it. She frolics honey-like in her lover’s eyes peering directly into the camera. She understands that to be vulnerable with the one you love is where true power lies. Just like the immortal jellyfish, the multidisciplinary artist LATASHÁ never dies— she merely starts all over again. She transcends form once more leaving Latasha behind for a moment and stepping into her newfound voice as LATASHÁ accenting her new moniker with some magic.
Watch below as LATASHÁ creates from love. From her heart to yours.
