New Mexico
I spent my summer in New York City running around the city during my internship-slash-development program-slash-summer camp. Between the smells of the subway, the lack of sleep from all the partying, and stress from scraping together my projects due right before the end of the summer, I was exhausted.
I remembered that my friend Lennie had given me an open invitation to come and experience New Mexico with her while she was there working on her writing, I said f*** it, packed my bags, booked four flights and ran to the Midwest. I needed quiet. I needed open air, desert aesthetics, and a complete changeup from the overcrowded vibes of NYC.
Looking back it is funny to think I thought I was going to be resting the whole time there. Instead, Lennie planned for me the craziest tour of the entire state. From us filming and photographing in White Sands, jumping into the Rio Grande River, bathing ourselves in Hot Springs, hiking up mountains near Taos, and much more, New Mexico offered me adventure and rejuvenation. And I will be back soon again!
